Qingyuan County in Zhejiang Province produces approximately 30% of the world's total pencil output, with over 40 factories concentrated within a 15 km radius. This density creates a mature ecosystem of raw material suppliers, skilled technicians, and export logistics infrastructure that factories outside the cluster cannot replicate.
Our factory operates 12 automated production lines across a vertically integrated facility. Every stage — wood slat preparation, graphite core extrusion, bonding, barrel shaping, lacquer coating, imprinting, and packaging — happens under one roof with a single quality management system governed by ISO 9001:2015.
Daily output of 2,000,000+ units across wood and plastic/wood-free lines means a 20,000-piece trial order runs as a minor production batch — not a disruptive line changeover. For annual programmes exceeding 50 million units, we allocate dedicated production lines with dedicated quality control teams to maintain batch-to-batch consistency.

From Raw Wood to Finished Pencil — All Under One Roof
Four integrated production stages, one quality management system.
Slat Preparation
Basswood logs are cut, dried, and graded into pencil slats. Each slat is inspected for grain consistency before entering the grooving line — irregular slats are rejected before lead insertion.
Core Bonding
Graphite and clay are mixed to grade specifications (HB through 6B), extruded into lead cores, and bonded between grooved slats under heat and pressure. Each batch is hardness-tested.
Barrel Shaping & Painting
Bonded slats pass through shaping cutters to form round, hexagonal, or triangular profiles. Barrels receive 3–5 coats of lacquer with intermediate sanding, then final imprint via screen print, hot stamp, or digital transfer.
Finishing & Packaging
Pencils are sharpened or capped, ferrule-attached with eraser, and packed to your specification — blister cards, kraft boxes, tins, or bulk cartons. Every carton passes AQL-based random inspection before release.
Plastic / Wood-Free Extrusion
Recycled polymer resin is extruded around a graphite core in a single continuous process — no wood slats, no bonding. The result is a shatter-resistant, humidity-proof pencil available in HB through 6B. Our plastic pencil lines serve high-volume school supply tenders across Africa, Middle East, and Southeast Asia, with BSCI and ISO 9001 certification covering every production batch.
Your Compliance Audit, Pre-Passed
Every wooden pencil uses basswood from FSC-certified forests (CoC: ESTS-COC-251233). Our BSCI social compliance audit covers working hours, wages, health and safety, and freedom of association across the entire factory workforce. ISO 9001:2015 governs every production stage from incoming raw material inspection through final AQL-based random sampling.
All four certifications — FSC, BSCI, ISO 9001, and ICS — are independently audited and renewed annually. Certificate numbers are verifiable through each scheme's official database. Full documentation pack supplied on first inquiry.

Quality Control at Every Stage
ISO 9001:2015 governs our quality management system end-to-end. Incoming basswood slats are kiln-dried to 6–8% moisture content to prevent warping during ocean freight, then inspected for straight grain and Grade A surface quality before entering production. Graphite cores are centered to ±0.1mm tolerance and hardness-tested per batch — core centering is the single most critical quality checkpoint, as off-center cores cause the #1 source of sharpening breakage in shipped pencils.
Finished pencils pass through three inspection gates: visual inspection for barrel finish defects, dimensional inspection for length and diameter tolerance, and functional inspection for writing smoothness and point retention. Final random sampling follows AQL 2.5 Level II (normal inspection) as standard, or AQL 1.0 upon customer request.
SGS and TÜV third-party lab test reports for EN71-3 (migration of certain elements) and REACH (SVHC screening) are available on request. Reports are renewed annually and dated within the last 12 months to satisfy European retail buyer requirements.
